Africa!!!
One of our favorite travel destinations has to be Africa. We first visited South Africa and Zambia in 2015. This was a self guided trip with friends who had been to Africa 10 times over the past years. It was also a timeshare trip as we used RCI to exchange for a stay at the Sanbonani Resort near Hazyview, just a few miles from the Phabeni Gate to Kruger National Park. What about shots??? Another reason to go to Kruger, in South Africa, is that generally you don’t need to worry about getting shots or taking anti malaria pills. You don’t need the yellow fever shot to go there unless you may have visited Kenya before getting to South Africa.
Our next trip was in 2018 when we visited Kenya and Tanzania. On this trip, we use Gracepatt Safaris and were very pleased with them. We were hoping to see the Great Migration crossing the Mara River, but our timing didn’t match the timing of the Wildebeest and Zebra.
We planned a trip to two Robin Pope Safari Camps (Nkwali and South Lawangwa River Camp) in 2020, but because of COVID-19 that trip was pushed to 2021 and then to 2022 before we were able to visit. A special note is that the Robin Pope Safari pushed our deposit forward each year and we didn’t loose a penny. That is outstanding considering that the other parts of our trip for 2020 required us to use our travel insurance to recover our money.
Our last trip in2023 was a return to Kenya and Tanzania. We again used Gracepatt Safaris and visited some new camps for a great time. We were trying again to see the Great Migration crossing the Mara River, but our timing didn’t match the timing of the Wildebeest and Zebra. I guess we will have to go back and try again.
